  • * College Scholarships:  the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is delighted to announce its 12th annual college scholarship essay competition, open to any high school senior who resides in the Warwick Valley Central School District.  Please find the topic, guidelines and submission deadline here.

    * Homework Help is Back!  The Children's Department is happy to announce that after-school homework help is available for children in grades K-5.  Volunteers are on hand on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:30.  For more information, please call Melissa Mazzella at (845) 986-1047, ext. 4.

    * Irish Immigrant Women:  on Monday, January 29 at 6:30pm, author and historian Margaret Lynch-Brennan will offer a portrait of the lives and experiences of young Irish women who emigrated to the United States between 1840-1930 and worked as domestic servants.  Popularly called "Bridget," they helped shape the place of the Irish in America even as they acculturated and absorbed the values of their employers.  Lynch-Brennan gives voice to the "Irish Bridgets," celebrating their contribution to the ethnic history of the United States.  Join us for this fascinating talk; register here today.
