Here are two postcards that give you a good idea of what Bellvale looked like around the early 1900's

This first card shows the main road going east toward Greenwood Lake. You can see the old stone bridge where the man is walking. On the right in the back is the old Burt Store(no longer standing) near the entrance to Mill Pond. In the foreground is the home that belonged at that time to Frank Quackenbush(this building is still standing today). If you turn and face the other way you are looking west towards Warwick. This is shown in the postcard below. In the foreground on the left is the Quackenbush Store(now the Bellvale General Store). Behind that is the Horton House which is no longer standing.
