Multliply Your Gift to the Library

The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation has launched the library’s 2007/2008 Annual Appeal to raise funds for Library collections and services. To spark the success of this year’s Annual Appeal, library supporters Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes have issued a very generous challenge. Mr. and Mrs. Dickes will match, at a rate of $1.00 for every $2.00 donated, up to $20,000 in contributions. In other words, community generosity of $20,000 will net the library $30,000. Proceeds from the Annual Appeal will fund new books and audio visual materials as well as programs and technology in the coming year.

Last year gifts from our community raised over $15,000. This enabled your library to add new technology and books and offer special programs to library users of all ages. Your support has been critical to our success. Some noteworthy items made possible by these gifts include:

• The Express Collection: New bestsellers always available on the shelf
• Expanded Playaway collection of digital books
• Programs and activities for One Town One Book, The Devil in the White City
• Shelving for the growing Young Adult Collection
• More titles for the very popular Classics Collection
• Senior Perks: Monthly Coffee, discounts and book raffles for senior citizens
• Literary Underwriters: many new titles throughout the collection
• Lego play table for the children's room

The proceeds of this year's Appeal will fund similar benefits for the library, as well as provide support for the AWPL Foundation and its 2008 scholarship competition.

We are again offering you the opportunity to join the library's Literary Underwriters. Donors who contribute at least $150 to the Literary Underwriters campaign will have a personally inscribed bookplate, designed specifically for this year's Appeal, placed in a new book in the library. Their inscription will also appear on the 2007/2008 Literary Underwriters plaque to be displayed in the library.

All contributions are tax deductible and a gift of at least $25 will once again give you membership in the Friends of Albert Wisner Public Library.

The library offers Warwick residents a chance to grow and learn as a community. It is a place where children and teens grow by developing skills and discovering interests, and where adults have an opportunity to grow intellectually and socially by sharing ideas and exploring new pursuits.
