Features of the New Library
• A Children’s Room with a program area totaling 4,000 square feet, more than four times the current space.
• A flexible multi-purpose room to be used for programs, community meetings, and group study space.
•A Warwick Room to store and showcase the area's rich historical heritage.
•Quiet study and reading areas.
•Full access for people with handicaps and disabilities, including 60 parking spaces.
•Sustainable, cost efficient “green” design features, including geothermal heating.
Funding the New Library
The new library will be funded from a variety of sources.
•The Friends of the Library and individuals in the community have already donated over $200,000 for the new building.
•The land for the new library on McFarland Drive in the Village of Warwick, valued at over $300,000, was donated by Leyland Alliance.
•The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation has set a goal of at least $500,000 to be raised by an intensive Capital Campaign, Expanding Possibilities.
•A referendum for an $8.5 million bond was approved by the voters of the Warwick Valley School District on Thursday, March 8, 2007.
