The New Library Catalog Account Registration Process

The library’s new web-based library catalog software works very similar to the software that we’ve been using for the past few years—with one exception. In the past, to access your library account information, renew books, or place hold requests, you have been presented with a screen that asks for a library card number and a PIN number. [Unless you specified to library staff a unique PIN, your PIN has been the last 4 digits of the phone number you gave when applying for your library card.]

For all library users who received their library card before 7/19/2005, you may still use your library card number and PIN when presented with the new catalog’s login screen:

Note that although the prompts say “Username” and “Password”, your library card number will work as the username and the PIN will work as your password.

All library users who received their card AFTER 7/19/2005, will need to click on the “register as a new Information Portal user” link and will then see the following screen:

At this screen, they should click on HORIZON to highlight it and then click on the Next button.

They will then see a blank registration form:

Each field in the form must be filled out:

Username: can be any continuous string of characters (no spaces)

Password: can be any continuous string of characters, at least 4 characters long.

Password Reminder question: Enter in a question that a stranger would not be able to guess

Password Reminder answer: The single answer to the above question

Borrower barcode: the number on your library card

PIN: The PIN assigned on your library registration. By defauklt, the last four digits of the phone number you gave on your library application.

Click on Finish to submit the form. You are now ready to login to your library catalog account. From this point forward, you will be able to login using the username and password you created (and will not need to remember your library card number and PIN.)
