As the climate crisis heats up, what are the energy alternatives that can quickly and cost-effectively reduce greenhouse gases and transition us from fossil fuels? Attendees of this talk are eligible for points toward a national 21-day Drawdown EcoChallenge to reduce their carbon footprint during the month of April.
Insects and microorganisms abound in a healthy garden and are, in fact, critical to the life cycle of plant growth and food production. To achieve a balanced ecosystem, one must first identify beneficial insects and provide a habitat for them to thrive. Microorganisms, often imperceptible to the naked eye, also play an essential role in the health of the garden. Join Gar Wang for a discussion of the organic garden's friends and foes.
In this interactive and engaging workshop, participants will learn about biodiversity: what it is and how to cultivate it in common spaces. All participants will have the opportunity to learn about seed saving, increasing biodiversity through native planting and will walk away with seed bombs.
