This presentation provides parents with terrific tips for keeping track of after school activities, setting up a homework space, and building a system for the family backpacks. From establishing good habits related to sleeping, reducing screen time, and setting goals, this workshop will ensure a super sweet (and smooth) start to a new school year"_ The Apple A Day Way.

August is the time to begin planting for a fall crop. Learn how to extend your harvest by growing plants that will thrive in the cold season. Gar Wang will also talk about different methods of preserving food and saving seeds.

Using excerpts and additional material from the documentary film "Objects and Memory," filmmaker Jonathan Fein raises questions about fundamental human responses to objects and how otherwise ordinary things become transformed into precious conveyors of experience, emotion, and identity. What are the things in our homes and museums that mean the most to us? How do we preserve the past and speak to the future?

Join AWPL's "Pretty Committee" for a folded book art workshop. Participants will choose one of three designs to work on and decorate. Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult.

The Science Book Club will discuss "Stuff Matters" by Mark Miodownik - a Bill Bryson-esque work that answers all the questions you've ever had about pens, spoons and razor blades, while also introducing a whole world full of materials you've never heard of. Mark Miodownik is a professor of Materials and Society at University College, London.
