How Music Works with Barry Wiesenfeld

This class is designed for beginning musicians and music fans who wish to understand the components of music and how these components work. The basics of chords and chord progression, melody and harmony will be discussed. Pace and direction is set, in part, by student background and interest.  You do not need a knowledge of music - only a desire to learn!  This class will meet for four consecutive Wednesdays; attendance at all classes is strongly recommended.

Family Night: Origami Crane Project and Musical Entertainment

Learn to fold an origami crane and help us in our quest to create 1,000 cranes to send to the Children's Peace Monument in Hiroshima, Japan.   While folding the cranes, tap your toes to tthe Classic Rock sounds of Uncle Shoehorn.  Snacks and beverages will be served.

Dance Your Bobby Socks Off!

Author Event: Tom Cooney "The Man Behind Badge #711"

Tom Cooney is a calm, good-natured man with a keen sense of responsiblity, which is probably why he devoted his entire life to public service.  After he completed a tour of duty in the army, Cooney's dream of becoming a New York City Fireman came true in 1959, when he was sworn in and issued lucky badge #711.

Tom, a 20-year veteran of the New York Fire Department and a volunteer at Ground Zero, will discuss his life as a NYC Fireman and read from his book The Man Behind Badge #711.
