Joining a Library Activity Group

The Library is delighted to welcome adult groups created around a particular interest or hobby.  Currently, adult Chess, Scrabble and Mahjong players meet regularly at the Library, as do two stitching groups and a book discussion group.  These groups are ongoing, free and open to the public without registration.

Some activities, like the stitching groups, can accomodate any number of people on a drop-in basis.  Others, however, require a specific minimum or maximum number of participants, such as the games mentioned above.  So, if you are interested in joining a group, we ask that you inquire first at the Help Desk.  We will try to connect you with a group that both matches your interest and meets at a time convenient for you.  Likewise, we will be happy to assist you in forming a completely new activity group, if the activity can be accommodated at the Library.

To inquire about joining an existing group or about forming a new one, please call Kathleen Georgalas at the Library at (845) 986-1047, ext. 5, or email her at

Thank you!
