Hurt of the Antarctic: Graphic Art by Roger Dowd

Join graphic artist Roger Dowd on Saturday, March 10 at 2pm in the Activity Room to learn about the techniques he used to create the artifacts included in his exhibit "Hurt of the Antarctic" on display in the Board Room during the month of March.

“Hurt of the Antarctic” is part one of a work of historical fiction and fantasy presented in graphic form.  It tells the story of Edward Aaron Hurt, a nineteenth century explorer who led an adventure-filled expedition to the Antarctic Circle in 1883. Twenty fabricated “artifacts,” consisting of drawings, paintings, constructions and photographs of dioramas, form the body of the work on display. Captions and text associated with each piece provide the narrative thread of the exhibit.
