The Library is blessed with teen and adult volunteers who lend hundreds of hours per month to help with a wide variety of library tasks. Tasks that adult volunteers often handle include shelving, cleaning DVDs and CDs, re-covering books, and helping process new materials to prepare them for circulation. Teen volunteers perform many of the same tasks, and also occasionally help with shifting and reorganizing materials, creating flyers for upcoming teen programs and straightening up shelves.
Teens wishing to volunteer at the Library to accrue community service hours (or just because they like the environment) may do so on most Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons between 3:00 and 5:00. They must sign up in advance at the Help Desk, and can commit to up to four (4) hours maximum per month. We will be happy to provide a letter acknowledging a teen’s volunteer hours, if documentation is needed. Teens interested in volunteering should call the Help Desk at (845) 986-1047, ext. 3 or speak to Dianne Aimone, who coordinates teen volunteers.
Adults wishing to volunteer at the Library should fill out an application at the Library, and call or stop by the Library to speak to Kathleen Koopman, who coordinates adult volunteers.
