(2014) Starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons. Andrew Neiman is an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. Plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats. Terence Fletcher, an instructor equally known for his teaching talents as for his terrifying methods, leads the top jazz ensemble in the school. Fletcher discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into his band, forever changing the young man's life. Andrew's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher continues to push him to the brink of both his ability – and his sanity. Rated R; 1 hour, 47 min. This course will include an in-depth exploration of mindfulness of the body as a path toward calm and connection to ourselves and others. Much more than just a relaxation technique, mindfulness gives us a new way to relate to all of our experience, with kindness, with interest and without judgment. With mindfulness, we can step out of habitual reactions and find new ways to respond to ourselves and others. Each class will include guided meditation practice, teaching, and Q&A, as well as optional homework. The class consists of four sessions: April 3 and 17, May 1 and 15. It is reccommended, though not required, to attend all of the sessions. You must register for each session individually.Location:AWPL Community RoomAge Group:Adult, Teen
