LIVE PERFORMANCE!
Open registration after November 26.
Performers from the Capital Heights Lyric Opera Company will present highlights from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Bizet’s Carmen.
In Rossini’s most popular opera, the witty barber, Figaro, helps the Count Almaviva win the hand of the beautiful Rosina. Sparkling coloratura, catchy melodies, and lively staging are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat in these excerpts. Highlights from Carmen tell the story of the wild, beautiful Gypsy girl who chooses freedom to love whom she pleases over life itself. Carmen’s haunting melodies have kept this opera in the top 10 of the operatic repertoire since 1875.
The highlights will be performed by mezzo-soprano Frances Devine, tenor Ivan Rivera, and baritone Richard Cassell.
This opera program is made possible by generous support from the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation.
