    An invitation  open to all  seniors who want to experience the joys and wonders of improvisational theater.  No prior experience needed, no lines to memorize - just enthusiasm and a willingness to participate. You don’t have to be “funny” to come to these sessions - but you will have fun!

    Mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death by trying your hand at a Shakespearean Sonnet centered on a Warwick Valley Theme.  First prize will be $100 gift certificate to Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe; two runners-up will receive a Shakespeare coffee mug.  SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  SEPTEMBER  16, 2016 at the Help Desk.

    RULES: 

    1. Sonnets must be in a true Renaissance Style * - that is, iambic pentameter with traditional sonnet rhyme scheme.  Using modern English vocabulary, though , is fine -“thees” and "thous” not required.
    2. Participation is open to adults and teens ages 12 and up.
    3. Sonnets must be in some way related to a Warwick Valley theme, context, or setting.
    4. Entrants may submit one sonnet only; sonnets must not be previously published.

    Melinda Burgard, Certified Music Therapist, leads this fun group in song and movement.  This activity serves primarily those in the middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease (or related dementia), accompanied by their family care partner.  Come meet new friends and socialize in a safe and accepting environment.  To register, please call the Alzheimer's Association at (800) 272-3900.
