Author Chuck Larocca will discuss his new book, The 124th New York State Volunteers in the Civil War, detailing the journey of the local unit, which saw action in many of the major battles of the War such as Gettysburg and Chancellorsville. Enriched with much newly-uncovered primary source material -- such as letters written by eyewitnesses, including Captain James Benedict of Warwick -- the book presents a richly-detailed and poignant view of the experience of the war. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Many of us studied Spanish in High School, but few have taken the leap to begin speaking it. These classes will give you the practice and confidence to take that step.
Students are requested to have a copy of Colloquial Spanish of Latin America: The Complete Course for Beginners by Roberto Rodsrigues-Saona. This title will be available in the Library in limited quantities.

Join us for this six-session program where 9 and 11 year-olds and their parents get together to talk about books and ideas. Books, snacks and activities for younger siblings are all provided at each session. We will be focusing on three themes: (2 books for each theme) Being American, Courage and Freedom. Three picture books and three novels will be read. The picture books are La Mariposa, Martin's Big Words and the Girl Who Loved Wild Horses. The novels are Letters from Rifka, Shiloh, and The Friendship. Books will be loaned to each child and adult that registers.
