Japanese embroidery is an embroidery technique that goes back more than 1600 years.  Initially only used to decorate items used during religious ceremonies, it gradually took on a more artistic purpose. Betty Hill will demonstrate her art and discuss her experience at the Kurani Kai School of Embroidery in Japan.

*This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.  This project is also funded with support from the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation
