    Poem On My Pocket - We'll give you a pocket full of words, then you construct a poem and glue it on the pocket.  Completed pocket poems will be added to our poetry display.  Register beginning March 27 to pick up a pocket on our curbside children's cart, or stop in at the Children's desk.  This program will run from April 1 through April 30.  Open to grades K-5.

    Carol Ann Duffy became the Poet Laureate of the UK, succeeding Andrew Motion and Ted Hughes, in 2009.  She was the first woman to hold the post in its 350-year history.  Find out why, when Circle of Voices discusses this amusing Scottish poet on Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30p.m on Zoom.  Poems to be discussed may be either picked up at the Help Desk or emailed.  Don’t see your favorite?  April is National Poetry Month!  Bring a poem of hers to share; ask at the Help Desk for assistance.  Laurie Byro has 6 books of poetry published between 2015 and 2020.  All may be checked out at AWPL, or borrowed through the RCLS library system with a valid library card.  Please register in order to receive the Zoom link in advance of the event via email.

    The Science Book Club discusses Cure: A Journey Into the Science of Mind over Body by Jo Marchant.  Drawing on the very latest research, Marchant explores the vast potential of the mind's ability to heal, lays out its limitations and explains how we can make use of the findings in our own lives. With clarity and compassion, Cure points the way towards a system of medicine that treats us not simply as bodies, but as human beings.  Please register so that a Zoom link can be emailed to you before the meeting.     Mug-a-licious Baking:  this 3-session program will explore recipes you can make in a mug using a microwave.  The first week, pick up your mug and dry ingredients for the first recipe - you will need to supply a few simple things to complete the recipe.  Save your mug, and each session new ingredients and recipes will be provided.  Register for all three sessions beginning March 27 to reserve your mug and supplies.  Tweens ages 9-12.
