Join Laurie Byro and the Circle of Voices Poetry Discussion as we enter our 23rd year.  For our first lively session at Albert Wisner Public Library - via Zoom - we will welcome new members in a meet-and-greet.  Let's talk poetry!  Each attendee is asked to bring one or two poems, either famous or unfamiliar to the group, that represent who they are or how they perceive the world.  Need help?  The Library can recommend lots of poets and poetry books:  Mary Oliver, Billy Collins, W.H. Auden, Sylvia Plath and more.  During a typical session, Laurie chooses a poet to discuss, and poems will be available at the Front Desk or online.  Be there or be square!

Laurie Byro has been facilitating the Circle of Voices poetry discussion in New Jersey libraries for more than 22 years.  She is published widely in University presses in the United States, and is included in an anthology:  St. Peter's B List (Ave Maria Press). Laurie is a poet-in-residence at Pacem in Terris in Warwick.

Finding the roots of Warwick's African American ancestors can be a challenging but rewarding pursuit.  Join three researchers who are exploring the lives of African enslaved persons connected to their family tree.  Researchers include Leah Rogne, Professor Emerita of Sociology at Minnesota State University who is researching a runaway slave from the Seward family; Sherri Bruen, whose Garrison connections are gradually coming to light by using wills and other documents; and David Dolson, who is tracing and coming to terms with his slave-owning ancestors.
