Join us for an overview of the basic process of how votes and voters are processed. Representatives from the Board of Elections (Democrat & Republican) and the League of Womens Voters (Mid-Hudson Region) will address the following questions:
- What happens to my ballot after I put it in the machine?
- Why is the information safe when it's taken to be counted and while it's being counted?
- How is voters' information organized and kept secure?
- Why don't I have to present an ID to get my ballot?
We'll discuss safeguards against cheating or casting ballots improperly. Then, we'll provide an update on recent New York laws and voting machines aimed at streamlining the process and increasing security.
