"Where Slavery Died Hard": Film & Discussion of the region's African enslaved
What was life like for enslaved Africans in the Hudson Valley of New York? Even though "abolition" was made law early in the republic, why did it take so long for emancipation to happen? Join us for a showing of new award-winning documentary,"Where Slavery Died Hard," which examines this question in New York's Ulster County and Shawangunk Mountains region. A discussion will follow, both reflecting on the issues raised and examining the documentary evidence of the lives of the enslaved in Warwick.

Extraordinary vocalist Rhonda Denet, accompanied by the Silver Fox Songs Trio, will perform a collection of jazz standards and soul classics that spans 5 decades. This is an outdoor performance, weather permitting: please bring a lawn chair, blanket or towel to sit on if you like.
