    In Honor of Women’s History Month:  Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) Based on Fannie Flagg's 1987 novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, it stars Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker and Cicely Tyson; Evelyn Couch (Bates) is having trouble in her marriage, and no one seems to take her seriously. While visiting relatives at a nursing home, she meets Ninny Threadgoode (Tandy), an outgoing old woman, who tells her the story of Idgie Threadgoode (Masterson), a young woman in 1920's Alabama. Through Idgie's inspiring life, Evelyn learns to be more assertive and builds a lasting friendship with Ninny.  Rated PG-13: 2 hours 10 minutes.

    Come and meet new friends and join in on a game that is played all over the world.  Mahjongg enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to play every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The sessions are open-ended and participants can play as many or as few games as they wish.  Players with mahjongg sets are encouraged to bring them, as the Library has only a limited number to loan. This program is free, ongoing and open to players from all communities.

    Pick up a canvas in the Children’s Room and draw, color or paint a picture inspired by your favorite children’s book or book character.  Your works will be displayed in the Children’s Room.

    Canvases are available starting Wed. March 20, 5:30 PM at Open Art Studio.

    Finished art work is due back to the Children’s Room by Friday, April 5.
