The String Trio of New York is an internationally-known chamber jazz group featuring James Emery on guitar, Rob Thomas on violin, and John Lindberg on bass. Since their founding in 1977, the trio has performed regularly at jazz festivals such as Ravinia and Newport, and has been featured on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition and on PRI's International Concerts.

Howard Horowitz is the author of Close to the Ground. His map poems, combining poetry and geology, have appeared in the New York Times and in literary journals. An open mic will follow the reading.

Noted for his renderings of rural landscapes, lifestyles, and people, Robert Fletcher will discuss some of the works currently on exhibit in the Community Room, and share a few previews of his upcoming book on the wonderful stories of the late Luther Barrett.
Astrophysicist Kevin Manning, a former consultant with NASA, has always been passionate about astronomy, and wants to share the excitement with you! Over the 1½ - 2 hours, you’ll learn about the size and scale of the universe, the stars, and other celestial wonders using hands-on activities and assorted visuals. Following the presentation, a powerful telescope will be set up outdoors for viewing the craters on the Moon, the rings of Saturn and other beautiful objects in the night sky, weather permitting.
