The Book & Nook and The Albert Wisner Public Library are excited to present "The Cozy Mysteries Panel!" Join us as we celebrate Katie Siegel's latest release, Charlotte Illes is Not a Teacher, and discuss cozy mysteries with Kensington authors Christin Brecher and Patrice McDonough! This will be a fun discussion moderated by Candace Rivera, owner of The Book & Nook. There will be time for audience Q&A and book signings from each author. The latest releases from Katie, Christin, and Patrice will be available for sale.

    About the Authors:

    KATIE SIEGEL

Katie Siegel is a former wannabe child detective who eventually realized that writing mysteries was more fun than trying (and failing) to solve them. In addition to writing the Charlotte Illes books and creating content for @KatieFliesAway on Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube, she writes and produces the fantasy radio advice show podcast, Dear Liisphyra.  She graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in journalism and currently lives in New Jersey. Visit her online at KatieFliesAway.com.

    CHRISTIN BRECHER

Christin Brecher is the author of the Shapshot of NYC Mysteries and the Nantucket Candle Maker Mystery Series. Born and raised in New York City, she lived in London, Connecticut, and Massachusetts before moving back to the city that will always have her heart. She previously worked in television production at the A&E Network, HBO and PBS before moving into business development and marketing at Time Incorporated. Visit her online at ChristinBrecher.com.

    PATRICE MCDONOUGH

Dan Garcia’s program features compositions from the Americas and Spain, as he soulfully presents works by Villa-Lobos, Agustín Barrios, Jose Luis Merlín, Antonio Ruiz-Pipó, Albéniz, Tárrega, and Brower, and more.

Steeped in tradition and the sounds of old Segovia records, Dan’s love of Spanish guitar began right at home in his birthplace of Madrid, Spain. From the romantic compositions of Francisco Tárrega to the memorable melodies of Agustín Barrios, Dan’s program of Spanish and South American songs is an authentic offering of personal heritage.

Dan holds a Master’s Degree from the College Conservatory of Music-University of Cincinnati. His studies included master classes with guitar virtuosi Ernesto Bitetti, Oscar Gihglia, Jason Vieaux and Alvaro Pierri.  Dan has performed countless gigs in New York City’s most revered clubs including Joe’s Pub, (le) Poisson Rouge, SOBs, Zinc Bar, Drom, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Cafe Wha? and is the lead guitarist of the mesmerizing Santana tribute band, Black Magic. He is also the creator of three guitar technique books as well as two bilingual learning apps for aspiring guitarists and teachers. In addition to a thriving performance career, Dan is a professor of music at Manhattan College in NYC.
