Interactive Chalk Board:  Visit between 10:00am-12:00pm for a 15 minute slot to hop, skip & jump your way through the chalk board maze that we'll create on the Library's parking lot.  Prizes for all who complete the maze.  Rain date Saturday, October 24.

Pumpkin Look and Find!  Find 14 hidden pumpkins with different features and expressions, all hidden on the Library's grounds.  The pumpkins will also have a word on the underside which, when put together, will give you a message.  Mark the pumpkins' locations on your map, then email the map to us (warkids@rcls.org) or leave it in the basket in front of the Library.  Everyone who turns in their map gets a prize!  Maps may be picked up in our curbside cart.  Please do NOT move the rock pumpkins. Throughout the history of human settlement, people have sought to protect their living spaces both practically and magically.  Walter Wheeler, Senior Architectural Historian of Hartgen Associates, looks at the inclusion of objects in buildings as protective charms, with focus on Hudson Valley region Dutch dwellings.  This program will be virtual on Zoom.  Registration is required; those who register will be sent the Zoom meeting link on 10/17.

Preschool Spanish Class:  Join Joyce Schenkman for some fun learning basic conversational Spanish. Ages 3-5. Beginning Saturday, September 12, register to reserve your bag of supplies.  Materials will be distributed the week before each class.  The video will be available on our children's Facebook page.

The Control of Nature is John McPhee's bestselling account of places where people are locked in combat with nature. Taking us deep into these contested territories, McPhee details the strategies and tactics through which people attempt to control nature.  Most striking is his depiction of the main contestants: nature in complex and awesome guises, and those attempting to wrest control from her - stubborn, sometimes foolhardy, more often ingenious, and always arresting characters.
