    Celebrate National Poetry Month! Join us for an enchanting evening of poetry with acclaimed authors J.R. Solonche and Mary Makofske. Solonche, Professor Emeritus of English at SUNY Orange and Orange County Poet Laureate, brings his 36 books of poetry and prestigious award nominations, while Makofske, retired professor and prolific author, offers her six books and numerous accolades. Prepare to be captivated by their mesmerizing verse!

     

    Professor Emeritus of English at SUNY Orange and current Orange County Poet Laureate, J.R. Solonche is the author of 36 books of poetry and coauthor of another. He has been nominated for the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Eric Hoffer Book Award.

    Mary Makofske, a retired professor (SUNY Orange) and author of six books of poetry, was nominated five times for the Pushcart Prize anthology. Her latest book No Angels (Kelsay, 2023), was nominated for the Eric Hoffer Book Award. Her poems have appeared in 73 journals and 21 anthologies.
